Champion Lacrosse Middle School Games

Just want to let everyone know about a Lacrosse League for Middle Schools students being held at Wide World Complex in Ann Arbor ran through Champion Lacrosse. Use the attachment below for the link.

Champion Lacrosse

The Champion Lacrosse middle school division meets weekly for 75 minute games. This level is for students who will be in 7th or 8th grade in the fall (as well as some expereinced 6th graders). All participants receive a Champion Lacrosse jersey on the first day. Players are divided on teams and kept with their friends. We will focus on instruction, learning and fun. Coaches participate on the field to help teach and guide the players.

This is a competitive division that maintains an educational athletic perspective. Each team is coached by an experienced Champion coach. Full equipment is required. Consider adding a camp or class to complete your summer training. Boys games are offered in Birmingham and Ann Arbor. Girls middle school games are in Birmingham. The primary game date/time is Thursday evenings.

Practice & Game Information

Practices: Will be held on Thursdays from 5:30-7:00
Location: Field is just south of tennis courts at Middle School

Game Location: Crabtree Field, Middle School Football Field

Equipment

Helmet
Mouth Guard
Shoulder/Chest pads (one piece)
Rib protector (wrap) - I believe optional at this age group.
Elbow/Forearm pads (one piece)
Gloves
Stick (Mid-Fielder/Attack - Shorter than the defensive stick) We will provide defense sticks.
Cup
Cleats (Football, if played last year, will work - I recommend staying away from baseball)
Bag of balls, 6 pack

Fitting:
Any sporting goods store can help you on fitting, but if you intend on fitting yourself (may save some money that way) here are some suggestions.

The helmet should be snug but not unbearable, some discomfort is normal as the helmet will break in. The front should sit low on the brow and it should fit square on the head. The pads should exert even pressure around the head, the skin on the forehead should move with the helmet when moved side to side and front to back. There should be no slack with the chin strap fastened.

The shoulder/chest pads should fit the shoulders with the chest pad covering the chest/ribs.
The upper arm part of the pad should just touch the upper part of the elbow pad without interfering, they should not bind (this part of the pad may be adjustable). No skin should be exposed between pads.

The elbow/forearm pads should extend from the upper arm pad to the top of the glove, again, nothing should bind, but you want as much coverage as possible.

The Gloves should fit hands, larger is O.K. as long they cover the hands and wrists and are comfortable with a stick.

The regulation mid/attack stick is 40" to 42" in length from the end of the cage to end of the handle. Most stores will carry this length in mid/attack sticks.
